Westhampton Beach Village Mayor Ralph Urban was elected to his first full term as mayor on Friday night in an uncontested election.
His running mates on the Key Party banner, Trustee Kimberly Monsour and Christopher Mensch, who also were not challenged, were each elected to two-year terms on the Village Board.
Urban received 42 votes, Monsour received 52 votes, and Mensch received 45 votes, according to a tally by Village Clerk Elizabeth Lindtvit, who noted that a total of 56 ballots were cast.
There were several write-in votes: eight for current Trustee Rob Rubio for mayor, two for Shock owner Elyse Richman for mayor, one for Marcus Stinchi of Stinchi Landscaping for mayor, and eight for village resident Thomas Moore for trustee.
All three board members were elected to full terms on the board for the first time this week. Urban was appointed mayor in January by the Village Board after former Mayor Maria Moore took office as Southampton Town supervisor.
Urban then appointed Monsour to fill out the remainder of his term. Mensch will take office on July 1, when the board has its organizational meeting, and he will take the board seat currently occupied by Trustee Stephen Frano, who did not seek reelection.
Urban said he looks forward to tackling a number of projects in the village.
“I appreciate the support of the voters and look forward to being able to help finalize a few of the remaining projects that were started under the administration of Maria Moore while I was deputy mayor,” he said. “For example, the sewer project connections and transfer to Suffolk County, the [Local Waterfront Revitalization Project] proposal with New York State, and the historic windmill restoration.
“There is always work to be done in a position like this, and I plan to initiate some others as well.”
