Vera Pauline Paulson, Formerly Of Bridgehampton Dies July 3

author on Jul 13, 2017

Vera Pauline Paulson, most recently of Atco, New Jersey, died on July 3, 2017.

Ms. Paulson was an avid bird watcher, a collector of kaleidoscopes, and a voracious reader. She was also an excellent cook, and many friends and family members have her needlework displayed on their walls. Her true passion, though, was the deep and abiding friendships she nurtured over afternoon coffee. Every afternoon at 3:30, in Bridgehampton and in Laurel, her friends always knew that the door would be open, the coffee fresh and hot, and the conversation lively.

Ms. Paulson met her husband in New York City, and they were married on February 20, 1954, in Bayside. They raised their family in Bridgehampton, from 1963 to 1993, spent some time traveling throughout the United States, and thereafter retired to Laurel, Delaware.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul Henry Paulson, also of Atco; three sons, Gordon Victor of New York City, Peter Edward and wife Melanie of Nashville, and Paul Henry Jr. and wife Kristi of New Jersey; and three grandchildren Amelia Ruth and Elliot Andrew of New Jersey, and Kirsten Erika of New York City.

Funeral arrangements will be private.

Condolences may be sent to the Paulson family at 1200 Wayne Avenue, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, 08002, or online at schetterfh.com.

Memorial donations may be made to the Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 300 Harper Drive, Moorestown, NJ 08057.

Pity the poor horseshoe crab. It is, without question, a survivor almost beyond compare. Consider this: There are fossils of the creature dating back 445 million years. Dinosaurs arrived about 200 million to 250 million years ago — which means the time between us and dinosaurs is equal to the time between dinosaurs and the earliest horseshoe crabs. And they’re still here, nearly unchanged. But they finally may have met their match. The American horseshoe crab has “vulnerable” status, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The population faces a whole series of challenges, including sea-level rise, coupled ... by Editorial Board
