As part of its “Innovating Health Care on the East End” series, The Express News Group hosted a virtual panel discussion on the state of mental health care following the pandemic on Thursday, October 20.
The discussion, “Out of the Darkness: Mental Health Challenges in the Wake of the Pandemic,” was held via the Zoom platform.
Panelists included Katherine Karan, obstetrics nurse manager at Peconic Bay Medical Center: Susan Wilner, assistant director of behavioral health services at Stony Brook Medicine; Dr. Lloyd Simon, director of addiction services at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital; Janet Jackowski, vice president of behavioral and social services at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital; Dr. Douglas K. Hoverkamp, director of the psychiatry department and psychiatric director of Quannacut Outpatient at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital; and Dr. Guy Maytal of Weill Cornell Medicine. The panel was moderated by Executive Editor Joseph P. Shaw.
