Vincent A. B. Sforza of Hampton Bays died on February 22 at his home, after a long illness. He was 73.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a part-time resident of Hampton Bays until 1991, when he and his wife relocated to the hamlet permanently.
He obtained master’s degrees in education and social work from Fordham University.
Before his illness, he was an active member of the community. He sang for several years with the choir at Sacred Hearts Church in Southampton and also served as a volunteer at the food pantry in Hampton Bays. In addition, he volunteered with the Organizacion Latino Americana in Southampton. He was a former committeeman on the Southampton Democratic Committee and acted as treasurer for the John P. Spata Democratic Club of Southampton.
Survivors recently recalled that “he was a man of faith who deeply loved his large and extended family and cherished his friends. He also loved the East End of Long Island and constantly remarked how fortunate he felt to be living in such a beautiful place.”
He is survived by his wife, Marion Boden of Hampton Bays; a son, Joseph Sforza and his wife Kelly (née Halloran) of Hampton Bays; a daughter, Teresa Lambe and her husband Gerald of Long Island City; a sister, Marie Sforza of Nevada; and four grandchildren, Grace Sforza and Fiona Sforza, Sophia Lambe and James Vincent Lambe,
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays. Interment will follow at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hampton Bays Historical Society or the St. Rosalie’s Food Pantry would be appreciated by the family.
