Vincent Andrew Mauceri of Sag Harbor died quietly on August 3 while undergoing an MRI scan — one final act of unexpected drama following a routine afternoon of spraying weed killer in the yard, a task he took far too seriously. He was 83.
He will be remembered for his dry humor, his loyalty to family (and lawn care), and a life lived unapologetically on his own terms. He will be deeply missed, his family said.
He is survived by his daughter Amy Plum and her husband Richard, along with their three children, Patrick, Payne, and Honey; his son Chris Mauceri and two grandsons, Christopher and Matthew; and Chris and Kara Mauceri. His beloved dog Bailey, known to all as his favorite child, will miss him terribly — and perhaps inherit his spot on the couch.
He will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Elizabeth Ashton Mauceri — affectionately (and accurately) known as Baba — whose spirited personality ensured there was never a dull moment, his family said.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who remember him pull a weed, pet a dog, or argue lovingly with someone they can’t live without.
