Vincent P. McCarroll
Vincent Patrick McCarroll of Connecticut and Southampton died at Bridgeport Hospital on Sunday, May 1. He was 77.
He was born on November 15, 1933 in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of Vincent and Mary McCarroll.
Mr. McCarroll had a lifetime career in the advanced automation control industry, beginning in 1957. Before he died he was the chief engineer emeritus at Enfield Technologies. He held several patents for his work and authored numerous papers on electronic controls for complex automation systems. He received a certificate in electronic technology from the RCA Institute; a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Fairfield University School of Engineering; and completed advanced studies at the University of Connecticut. He was also an adjunct professor in the mechanical engineering department at Fairfield University.
Mr. McCarroll was a resident of Monroe for 48 years and was active in town affairs, as well as serving on the Board of Tax Review and Board of Zoning Appeals.
He proudly served his country in the Korean War. He enjoyed dancing, bike riding and cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events. He loved flying. Memories include spending summers in Southampton with his children and Karen, his wife who predeceased him in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Zita McCarroll; children, Nancy McCarroll and her boyfriend Ronald Ashford, Brian and his wife Kimberly, Daniel and his wife Jayne, Cynthia Christo and her husband Mark, Bradford Hoadley and his wife Celeste, and Billy Hoadley and his wife Lisa; and grandchildren, Brian, Alysa, Charles, William, Tyler, Clay, Jacob, and Austin McCarroll, Julia Christo, Alexa Hoadley and Jacob Culpepper Hoadley.
His family received friends on Wednesday, May 4, at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Connecticut. A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 5, at the funeral home.
