Vincent R. Zaluski, formerly of Water Mill and Boynton Beach, Florida, living at his retirement home in Worcester, New York, died on April 10 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. He was 78.
Mr. Zaluski went from high school into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Dix. When he was honorably discharged, he went to work for Joel Hawke at Strong Oil Company as office manager for many years.
From there he formed a landscaping company, The Baywoods, located in Water Mill. Retiring from there he went on to estate management.
Later years he worked for the Honorable H.R. Cromwell as estate manager. After the death of Mrs. Cromwell, he went to work as the estate manager for Dr. and Mrs. Warren Otto.
Retiring to Boynton Beach, he enjoyed gardening and the opera, and was an avid reader. His hobby was painting. He also purchased property in Worcester so he could venture north in the summers. Survivors said he finally decided New York was his real home, so he came to live in Worcester permanently.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Harriet Zaluski; a brother, William Zaluski Jr.; and a sister, Barbara Zaluski Corwith. He is survived by his longtime companion, Scott Brady; sister-in-law, Joan Zaluski; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
The family received friends on Saturday morning at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton where a prayer service was conducted by Rev. Mike Vetrano. Interment with military honors followed at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Water Mill Community Club, P.O. Box 182, Water Mill, NY 11976.
