Virginia Ann Blacker of Westhampton Beach died of pulmonary fibrosis on December 28. She was 64.
Ginny, as she was called by those close to her, traveled extensively with her husband, Stephen Blacker. When at home, she was an avid reader and actively involved herself in several community outreach programs.
Among other efforts, she helped launch the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and served as the gala chairperson for Family Counseling Services.
Survivors said this week that Ms. Blacker was a loving, caring and cheerful woman who was also a “consummate and constant” hostess, offering “generous hospitality” to guests in her home. Family members also recalled her positive spirit and sense of humanity, which served as an inspiration to those near and dear to her.
In addition to her husband of 41 years, Stephen Blacker of Westhampton Beach, she is survived by two sons, Peter Blacker and his companion Luis Gonzalez of Miami, and Andrew Blacker and his wife Elizabeth Sarachek Blacker of Port Washington; two sisters, Susie Untereker and her husband Bill of Pennsylvania, and Meg Rehders and her husband Kenny of New Jersey; a grandchild, Braden Storm Blacker; and a host of nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association, 1332 North Halsted Street, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60642 would be appreciated by the family.
