Voters approved the $4,019,733 operational budget, a $56,321, or 1.42 percent, over the current year's budget, 151-29. They also approved a $4,351,401 tax levy, an increase of $53,721 or 1.25 percent, over the current year's, which is within the state-imposed cap on tax levy increases

Southampton Village resident Victoria Kahn was elected to one of the two vacant seats on the Board of Trustees. She is the owner of Hamptons Virtual Office Center and Agawam Town & Village Realty. She has an MBA in finance from New York University and has a master’s degree in French civilization from Paris-Sorbonne University.

The other seat will remain open until the board appoints someone. Ms. Kahn and the other new member will begin their 3-year terms January 2016.

Incumbents Glenn R. Halsey Jr. and Frances C. Burns had opted not to seek reelection.

Dear Neighbor

Congratulations on your new windows. They certainly are big. They certainly are see-through. You must be thrilled with the way they removed even more of that wall and replaced it with glass. It must make it easier to see what is going on in your house even when the internet is down. And security is everything. Which explains the windows. Nothing will make you feel more secure than imagining yourself looking over the rear-yard setback from these massive sheets of structural glass. Staring at the wall has well-known deleterious impact, and windows the size of movie screens are the bold ... 11 Dec 2025 by Marilee Foster
