In the Tuckahoe Common School District, voters will also be asked to approve a proposed $23,808,303 budget, which seeks to grow the tax levy by 2.49 percent, or just shy of $470,000, to $19,335,486.
For a home assessed at $1 million, this will mean a $162 increase to the tax bill.
Residents will also be asked to consider two propositions — one that levies $65,000 for the district’s participation in the Southampton Youth Association, and another that levies $10,000 for participation in the Parrish Art Museum.
Incumbent Robert E. Grisnik will run unopposed for reelection to the Board of Trustees, where he has held a position for 37 years, plus a five-month stint in 1981. The U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard veteran served during the Vietnam War and flew 213 combat missions as a command pilot. Among his 33 decorations, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters. He is also a pharmacist and business owner in Southampton Village — owning Southrifty Drug for over 50 years.
The polls will open on May 16 at 7 a.m. in the Tuckahoe Common School library and will close at 8 p.m.
