Walter F. Kramer III

Walter F. Kramer III died December 12 in Aurora, Illinois. He was 53.

Born and raised in Garden City, he was a 1975 graduate of Garden City High School. In 1979, he earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He then embarked on a successful career as an environmentalist in the oil industry, living in Oklahoma, Utah, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Illinois. His most recent position was that of health safety security environment manager with BP Products North America, in Chicago, Illinois.

An avid traveler, Mr. Kramer visited every state in this country along with most of the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe and Australia. He once surprised his family and friends with an appearance on “Jeopardy,” ultimately becoming a two-day champion.

Mr. Kramer had a great love for his family and friends, a passion for helping others and a zest for life. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him, according to survivors.

Mr. Kramer and was predeceased by his father, Walter F. Kramer Jr. He is survived by his parents, Virginia and Donald Bennetter, formerly of Garden City, now residing in Baiting Hollow; sisters, Elizabeth Davidson of Huntington, Dorothea Adams of Garden City and Marguerite Kircher of Massapequa; a brother, Thomas Bennetter of Manhattan, as well as 10 nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

A funeral Mass was held on December 21 at Immaculate Conception Church in Quiogue; interment followed at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.
