Watch: Innovations in Delivering Maternal Care

In maternal care, technological advancements such as 3D ultrasounds and genetic screenings have marched forward, while at the same time the traditional role of midwives in assisting women before, during and post birth has returned to popularity. Labor and delivery professionals share all the ways care is changing for the better.

The panelists include Cassandra Heiselman, DO, MPH, a maternal fetal medicine specialist at Stony Brook Medicine; Michele H. Liot, CNM, RN, practice owner and clinical director at East End Midwifery Services; Brian McKenna, MD, managing director of women’s health of the East End at Peconic Bay Medical Center; Ann M. Visser, LM, MS, interim director of midwifery division, department of obstetrics and gynecology at Stony Brook Medicine; and Dr. Pedro R. Segarra, MD, of Hamptons Gynecology and Obstetrics.

East Hampton’s housing shortage is real; the town can’t afford to ignore any potential long-term solutions. But the recent — and now scrapped — plan for a large employer-run complex on Three Mile Harbor Road raises too many questions that haven’t been fully answered.
