To all of you: You have heard of the better doctors in New York City. No doubt some of this is true, but call me lucky. I went to see a pain specialist recently; after some consultation, he arranged for me to take a certain shot. I went to his office at 1 p.m. and was on his “operation” table in 10 minutes from arrival. I found his staff courteous and friendly.
He gave me the necessary shot, and I was in some pain, but it was over in a minute. Indeed, I thought I was better. Not so. I had to get an MRI at Southampton Hospital the next day. Be in a good mood for an MRI. You are enclosed in a long tube a little bigger than your body for between 20 and 30 minutes. Loud buzzes constantly whip through it. Burt Lancaster and Clark Gable blowing up Tokyo Bay types of sounds. An earpiece is necessary. When you are finished, you should try to sit quietly outside of this enclosure for five minutes. Then you are out, and again, I was there less than an hour from entering the hospital through the entire procedure.
More importantly—I feel well, at least on the way to recovery. So thank you, pain management and Southampton Hospital. As far as I am concerned, you are wonderful.
