A Rare Tie
For Bonac Girls Track

The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls track team (1-0-1 in League V) tied host Comsewogue, 63-63, on March 29. Due to a bussing issue, the girls didn’t get to Comsewogue until 5:30, according to head coach Yani Cuesta, about a half hour after the meet was scheduled for, and by the time they warmed up, the meet started closer to 6 p.m. Therefore none of the relays were competed and the long jump was basically competed in the dark. Also, Cuesta said Comsewogue didn’t provide a pole vault so Isabel Doyle was awarded five points since she was ready to compete. There were a number of personal and season’s bests and top performances in the win. East Hampton junior Ryleigh O’Donnell won the 400-meter run in 63 seconds, the 800-meter run in a season’s best 2:31.1 and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in what was also a season’s best 72.5 seconds. Bridgehampton senior Leslie Samuel won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 13.1 and 27.6 seconds respectively. Pierson senior Meredith Spolarich won the high jump with a season’s best height of 4 feet 10 inches.
