Win Over Harborfields Snaps Seven-Game Skid

A 67-34 victory at home over Harborfields on January 27 snapped what had been a seven-game losing streak for the East Hampton boys basketball team (4-10 in League V, 6-12 overall). Toby Foster led Bonac with 22 points, Miles Menu added 14, Mason Jefferson scored 11 and Carter Dickinson chipped in with eight. The Bonackers did lose their most recent game, 75-71, at Half Hollow Hills West on January 30.

Mariners Topple Host Port Jeff

The Southampton boys basketball team defeated host Port Jefferson, 89-33, on January 30. Alex Franklin finished with a game-high 19 points, Tyrese Reddick scored 17 and Naevon Williams with 16 to help lead Southampton (11-0 in League VII, 18-1 overall) which, as of Tuesday morning, was a win away from clinching an undefeated league season.

Southampton Girls Hoops Finishing Strong

A 46-37 win on the North Fork over Greenport/Southold on Monday marked the third victory in the past four games for the Mariner girls (5-10 in League VII, 5-13 overall). Daelyn Palmore once again led the offense with 33 points. She had scored 27 points in a 44-38 loss at home to Port Jefferson on January 30 and 26 points in a 52-43 win at East Hampton on January 28.

Fox Places Second at Paul Dilorio

Southampton’s Hudson Fox placed second in the 170-pound weight class at the Paul Dilorio Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Sachem East High School on Saturday. Fox lost a close 12-7 decision to Sachem East’s own Vasean Lapalmer. Both Liam Squires (152) and Cruz Espinosa (215) placed fourth.

Baymen Wrestlers Defeat Riverhead

The Hampton Bays wrestling team picked up a nonleague victory, 45-24, at Riverhead on Friday. Jean Carlos Herrera (190 pounds) and Jaime DePalma (138) each won their matches via pin, while Angel Valverde (152) won by technical fall (22-5).

Hurricanes Top Rival Sharks

The Westhampton Beach boys basketball team (9-5 in League V, 11-7 overall) defeated visiting Eastport-South Manor, 61-57, on January 30. Jorden Bennett scored 26 points to lead the ’Canes while Truman Hahn added 11 points.

Blenk, Darren Cangelosi Lead Hurricane Wrestlers

Dylan Blenk (108 pounds) and Darren Cangelosi (116) each won their respective weight classes at Paul Dilorio Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Sachem East High School on Saturday. Blenk won his finals match after Sachem East’s Logan Graf defaulted due to injury and Cangelosi defeated Max Melnik of Kings Park via technical fall (15-0, 5:52). Andrew Lewis (190) placed second and Tadhg Green (145), Dylan Razzano (152) and Carmine Esposito (160) each placed third.
