Bonac Boys Tennis
Continues To Win

The East Hampton/Pierson boys tennis team has won 11 matches in a row after its two latest victories last week. After defeating host Riverhead, 7-0, on May 3, the Bonackers defeated William Floyd, 6-0, at home the very next day. They are 10-0 in League IV play, 11-2 overall. The Division IV Individual Championships begin this week on Friday, May 12. They continue the next day and finish up on Monday, May 15. The county team tournament also begins this week, though East Hampton should receive a high enough seed where it earns a first-round bye and won’t have to play until Tuesday, May 16.

East Hampton Softball
Falls Out of Race

Three losses last week contributed to the Bonackers officially being eliminated from playoff contention, though they defeated Eastport-South Manor, 12-7, at home on Thursday, May 4. Colleen McKee went 4 for 5 and scored a pair of runs and Katie Kuneth went 3 for 3 with four runs for East Hampton (6-11 in League VII).

South Fork Boys Lacrosse
Still in Playoff Hunt

A 12-10 victory over Sachem East at Hampton Bays High School on May 3 kept the Islanders’ playoff chances alive. Trailing 9-8 heading into the fourth quarter, South Fork outscored Sachem East, 4-1, to earn the victory. Pierson’s Slate Glick scored three goals while East Hampton’s J.P. Amaden added another two goals. Southampton’s Cian Curran made 15 saves. The Lattanzio Brothers, Isaiah and Luca, of Hampton Bays, recorded four points each.

Southampton Baseball
Officially Eliminated

The Mariners made a mid-season push to try and qualify for the playoffs but will fall short in doing so after being swept last week in a three-game series with Babylon and then losing to Center Moriches at home on Monday. The Mariners are 4-12 in League IX, 5-13 overall, as of Tuesday morning with their final two games of the season coming up this week.

Hurricane Boys Lacrosse
Making Playoff Push

The Westhampton Beach boys lacrosse team won two of its three games to keep itself in the playoff picture. After defeating Center Moriches, 17-3, at home on May 2, the Hurricanes lost, 7-2, at home to Shoreham-Wading River, but followed that up with a 16-5 victory at home over West Babylon on Monday. Morgan McEntee scored five goals in the team’s latest win over West Babylon. James Bienia scored four goals and Charlie Beasley made nine saves in goal. Westhampton Beach finishes its regular season schedule this week, having played at Port Jefferson on Wednesday and finishing at Elwood/John Glenn on Friday at 5 p.m. It was unclear at press time whether or not winning both games would get the ’Canes into the Suffolk County Class C postseason, though a win at Glenn could go a long way since the Knights were ahead of them in the standings.
