The Bonackers (3-8) defeated Hampton Bays, 12-0, at home on Saturday, which ended a five-game losing streak, then beat Pierson/Bridgehampton, 23-3, at Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor on Monday in a pair of League VII/VIII crossovers. Katie Kuneth tossed a one-hitter with three strikeouts and went 2 for 4 at the plate in the win over Hampton Bays, while Susie DiSunno went 2 for 2 with a double. Kuneth pitched five innings and allowed three runs and struck out five in the win over Pierson. She was also 2 for 2 with three runs scored and three walks.
The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton boys tennis team defeated host Shoreham-Wading River, 5-2, on April 17 then defeated Mattituck, 7-0, at home on Thursday, April 20, to improve to 7-0 in League IV play and 7-2 overall. The Bonackers have rattled off seven straight victories after losing their first two matches of the season, both nonleague contests to Ward Melville and Bayport-Blue Point, respectively.
The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls track team defeated host Eastport-South Manor, 106-38, on Thursday, April 20, and is 2-1-1 in League V duals meets this season. East Hampton’s Ryleigh O’Donnell won the 400-meter dash (personal best 61.6 seconds) and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (73.5 seconds); Bridgehampton’s Leslie Samuel won the 100-meter dash (personal best 12.5 seconds), 200-meter dash (personal best, 25.9 seconds) and long jump (16 feet ¾ inches); Pierson’s Sara O’Brien won the 3,000-meter race (12:48); Pierson’s Meredith Spolarich won the high jump (4 feet 6 inches); and East Hampton’s Kaili Moore won both the shot put (personal best 31 feet) and discus (personal best 79 feet 9 inches). A group of girls competed at the Joe Brandi Relays at Connetquot High School on Saturday where Spolarich, Samuel, O’Donnell and Sam Ruano placed second and set a new school record in the sprint medley relay, which is 400-, 200-, 200- and 800-meters ran consecutively. They finished in 4:25.06 eclipsing the previous school record of 4:49.24 set in 2016 by Allura Leggard, Tyra Stewart, Devon Brown and Caroline Jungck.
The Islanders, as of Tuesday morning, have won three straight and four of their last five games after a pair of victories last week. After defeating Brentwood, 15-1, on April 19, South Fork defeated Copiague, 17-5, on Friday. Both victories came on the road. Charlie Corwin scored three goals and three assists and Luca Lattanzio scored twice and had three assists in the victory at Brentwood. James Corwin and Thinley Edwards each scored three goals at Copiague. Luca Lattanzio scored twice and assisted on three others while his older brother Isaiah Lattanzio added four assists and Charlie Corwin had a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
The Mariners defeated Mount Sinai, 8-1, on Monday to improve to 3-0 to start the season. They had defeated Longwood, 5-1, on April 18.
The Mariners defeated the Baymen, 5-2, at home to pick up their second victory of the season on Thursday, April 20.
The Southampton boys track team defeated Babylon, 78-51, at home on Monday to improve to 3-0 this season after victories over both Mattituck and Center Moriches earlier this season.
The Hampton Bays boys track team defeated Shoreham-Wading River, 85-51, at home on Monday to improve to 2-1 in League VII dual meets this season.
Westhampton Beach defeated Miller Place, 7-5, at home on April 19, then defeated host West Babylon, 14-10, on Friday to improve to 7-1 in Division II (7-2 overall), as of Tuesday morning. Joely Schaumloffel scored a free-position goal with two minutes remaining in regulation, just three minutes after Reese King had scored to break a tie at 5-5. Schaumloffel and King each finished with two goals. Lily Graves scooped up six ground balls. The ’Canes jumped out to an 8-2 first half lead at West Babylon. Ava Derby netted a pair of goals and had three assists while Maya Farnan made 11 saves in goal. Graves, Reilly Mahon and Brie Provenzano each scored two goals and as 10 different players found the back of the net for Westhampton Beach.
The Hurricanes (5-1 in League IV, 6-3 overall) lost, 5-2, to Half Hollow Hills East in a nonleague match on Monday but prior to that had won four matches in a row, including 7-0 victories over Southampton at home on April 18 and at Eastport-South Manor on Thursday, April 20.
After suffering consecutive losses for the first time this season to Bayport-Blue Point and Mount Sinai on April 18 and 20, respectively, the Westhampton Beach softball team (7-3 in League VII, 7-4d overall) defeated host Hampton Bays, 14-2, on Monday. Addison Celi was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored and she allowed no runs and struck out six over three innings. Kayla Blair added three hits and an RBI and Rosalie Judd had a double and drove in two runs and she struck out five in three innings of relief.
