Picks Up First Win

Olivia Dodge went 2-for-4 with a double and Katie Kuneth struck out eight and walked two across six innings to lead the Bonackers (1-6 overall) to their first victory of the season, 9-7, at Eastport-South Manor on Saturday. Kuneth and Gabrielle Payne each scored two runs.

Tops Hills East

The East Hampton boys tennis team (3-3 overall) picked up a 4-3 nonleague victory at Half Hollow Hills East on Saturday. Individual set scores were not available.

Bonac Girls Lacrosse
Splits Games

The East Hampton/Pierson girls lacrosse team (3-2 in Division II, 5-2 overall, 103.74 power points) defeated host Port Jefferson, 12-5, on April 9 but then lost, 16-5, at home to Miller Place on Friday. Ava Tintle scored five goals and had an assist in the win at Port Jeff while Melina Sarlo scored three goals. Katie Grande scored a pair of goals and Sadie Campsey made 10 saves in goal.

Bonac Girls Track

The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls track team won its second League V dual meet of the season, 79-66, at home over Eastport-South Manor on April 10. Kaili Moore won both the discus (season’s best 76 feet 8 inches) and the shot put (30 feet 10 ½ inches) and Kayla Kenlock won both the high jump (tied her personal best, 4 feet 7 inches) and the long jump (season’s best 14 feet 8 ½ inches). Sara O’Brien won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in 69.9 seconds and Ryleigh O’Donnell won the 800-meter run in 2:35.5. Vicky Chen, Addie Barletta, Sam Ruano and Leah McCarron won the 4x100-meter relay in 55.9 seconds and O’Brien, O’Donnell, Greylynn Guyer and Laura Martinez won the 4x400-meter relay in 4:24.6.

South Fork Boys Lacrosse
Ends Short Two-Game Skid

The Islanders (3-2 in Division I, 5-2 overall, 101.20 power points) responded well to their back-to-back losses the week prior with a 10-8 nonleague victory over Westhampton Beach (4-3 in Division II, 5-4 overall, 106.15 power points) at Southampton High School on April 9 and a 17-6 victory over Middle Country at Dawnwood Middle School in Centereach on Friday. Jack Cooper and Isaiah Lattanzio each scored three goals in the win over Westhampton Beach, while Slate Glick had one goal and two assists. Charlie Corwin and Luca Lattanzio each scored five goals in the win over Middle Country. Isaiah Lattanzio had six assists and Glick scored three goals and added three assists. Michael Single and Alex Davis each scored two goals for the Islanders as well.

Wins First Two Matches

After defeating host Mount Sinai, 9-0, at Willow Creek Golf & Country Club on April 10, the Mariners defeated Riverhead, 7-2, at Cherry Creek Golf Links the very next day. Individual scores were not available.

Celi Leads
Hurricane Softball

Addison Celi helped lead the Westhampton Beach softball team (6-2 overall) to three victories last week, all shutouts, starting with an 8-0 victory at home over Bellport on April 9, another 8-0 victory at Huntington the next day and then a 12-0 win at home against Centereach in which she pitched a no-hitter in five innings with 13 strikeouts. She was also 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored. McKenna Gevinski was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and a run scored. Elliejean Burke went 2-for-3 and three RBI’s. All told, Celi didn’t allow a run in 19 innings pitched, struck out 47 and only allowed nine walked.

Has Won Four Straight

Since their 4-3 loss at home to Shoreham-Wading River on April 5, the Hurricanes (6-1 overall) have rattled off four straight wins, three of which came last week. The ’Canes defeated host East Hampton, 5-2, on April 9, defeated Hampton Bays, 7-0, at home on Thursday, April 11, then defeated host Riverhead, 7-0, the very next day. Individual set scores were not available.

For Bonac Softball The East Hampton softball team (1-5 overall) won its first game of the season in dramatic fashion on Friday at home. After Lydia Rowan’s triple in the bottom of the seventh scored the tying run, Alexa Schaffer won it with a three-run home run that capped the 13-10 come-from-behind victory for the Bonackers.
