Bonac Girls Basketball Picks Up First Win
Katie Kuneth had nine points and 13 rebounds and Kaili Moore had eight points and 15 rebounds to lead the East Hampton girls basketball team (1-3 overall) to their first victory of the season, 39-18, at Southampton (1-6 overall) on December 21. Ana McCormack chipped in with 10 points. Mia Arnold led Southampton with 10 points which included three three-pointers. The Mariners won, 44-30, at Wyandanch for their first victory on December 19.
East Hampton Boys Hoops Fall to Comsewogue
The Bonackers suffered a 64-56 loss to Comsewogue at home on December 21 to fall to 1-3 in League IV, 3-3 overall. Zach Dodge scored a team-high 16 points for East Hampton while Maison Jefferson scored 14.
Bonac Swimmers Lose Close Meet
The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton boys swim team lost a nonleague dual meet, 86-80, at home at the East Hampton RECenter on December 18 to fall to 1-3 overall (1-1 League II). Overall, the Bonackers had six first-place finishes out of the 11 events competed, but the meet was decided by the final event where Northport scored enough to earn the win. The team recognized three first-year swimmers in Pierson sophomore Luca Borghi, Pierson freshman Ise Haney and East Hampton sophomore Tony Pillajo for not only competing for the first time but completing their event legally while showing strong skills as well. Haney was selected as the Swimmer of the Meet by team captains for this reason, specifically how fast he was in both the 4x50 and 4x100.
Bees Bounce Back After Tough Loss
The Bridgehampton boys basketball team defeated Southold, 71-54, at home on December 21 after suffering a 76-56 loss at home to Smithtown Christian on December 18. Alex Davis tied a career-high 31 points with five three-pointers for the Killer Bees (1-1 in League VII, 4-3 overall). Jai Feaster scored 19 points and Adrian Molina chipped in with 13 points.
Baymen Girls Basketball Defeats East Hampton
The Hampton Bays girls basketball team defeated host East Hampton, 55-28, on December 19 to improve to 2-5 overall. Tania Quiros scored 16 points to lead Hampton Bays while Eden Brown added 11 points.
Westhampton Beach Girls Hoops Win Again
The Hurricanes defeated host Smithtown West, 39-28, on December 22 marking their seventh win through eight games thus far. Sandra Clarke had 12 points, 10 assists and six steals in the win while Kate Sweet scored 15 points and had five steals. Two days prior to that, Westhampton Beach defeated host Comsewogue, 57-41. Shannon Sweet had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Clarke had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kate Sweet added 16 points and eight steals.
