Bees Baseball
Is Playoff Bound

In just its second season back on the varsity level after nearly half a century off, the Bridgehampton/Ross baseball team has reached the postseason. The Killer Bees were in line prior to their final regular-season series last week with Southold, but solidified their spot by sweeping the Settlers in all three games. After taking game one of the series, 10-6, in Southold on May 10, Bridgehampton won game two, 9-4, in their final home game of the season the very next day, then completed the sweep with a 13-2 victory at Southold on Saturday. Since there is no Class D competition in Suffolk County or Long Island, the Bees advance straight to the Regional Final, which won’t be played until June 3 at a location in Section IX (Orange, Sullivan, Ulster counties). Prior to that, the Bees will play the Class C Champion, either Pierson or Port Jefferson, in the C/D Qualifier game of the Suffolk County playoffs on May 23 at the Eastport Sports Complex at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to play for the Small Schools Championship against the Class B Champion on May 27 at noon also in Eastport.
