Road Wins for

East Hampton Field Hockey

The Bonackers won their first two road games of the season, the first a 4-1 victory at Smithtown West on September 6 in which Siena Link-Morse scored two goals and Emma McGrory added a goal and two assists. Two days later, East Hampton scored seven first-half goals to win, 7-0, at Southampton. McGrory scored twice and had two assists while Link-Morse, Addison Barletta, Lila Gabbard, Gracie Rasi and Melina Sarlo each scored. Emma Gaeckle made 17 saves for Southampton.

Bonac Girls Volleyball

After defeating Rocky Point, 3-1, in its season opener on Friday, East Hampton defeated Comsewogue, 3-0, on Monday. Both matches were home. Katie Kuneth had 14 kills and 10 digs in the 25-16, 25-22, 19-25, 25-16 victory over Rocky Point. Natalie Mongan and Olivia Yellen each added 11 assists. Yellen had 13 assists and two aces to lead East Hampton in the 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Comsewogue. Amina Guebli and Kim Hilario each had three kills and two blocks.

Wins Season Opener

The East Hampton boys volleyball team made quick work of Central Islip in three sets on September 5. The Bonackers won, 25-18, 25-4, 25-21.

First Loss for

Bonac Boys Soccer

The East Hampton boys soccer team won its first two games of the season, but since then has tied Eastport-South Manor, 2-2, on September 5, and then suffered its first loss, 2-0, at home to Comsewogue on Friday. John Bustamante and Brian Tacuri each scored a goal in the second half for the Bonackers in the tie at ESM. Rudy Reyes made 13 saves in goal for the Sharks.

Earns Close Wins

After defeating host Southold/Greenport, 5-2, on September 5, the East Hampton/Pierson girls tennis team defeated host Comsewogue, 4-3, on September 8.

Whalers Volleyball

Defeats Shelter Island

The Pierson girls volleyball team picked up its first victory of the season, 3-1, at home over Shelter Island on Friday. The Whalers are 1-3 in League VII, 1-4 overall.

Southampton Football

Loses Season Opener

In their first varsity game since 2019, the Mariners lost, 41-8, at Port Jefferson on Saturday afternoon. Nehemiah Mack ran for a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to avoid the shut out. He also ran in the ensuing two-point conversion.

Baymen Soccer

Sizzling Early On

After defeating Southampton, 3-1, at home on September 6, the Hampton Bays boys soccer team defeated host Bayport-Blue Point, 8-0, on Monday. Charlie Garcia, Juan Henao and Edie Cabrera each scored a goal in the win over Southampton. John Valencia scored Southampton’s lone goal. Garcia scored a hat trick in the win at Bayport while Johan Guillen, Xavier Johnson, Brian Tapasco, Stephen Uyaguari and Jordy Villa each scored.

Hurricane Boys Volleyball

Dominant Through Three

The Westhampton Beach boys volleyball team finally lost its first set on Monday, albeit in a 3-1 victory at Patchogue-Medford. Prior to that, the ’Canes had defeated Lindenhurst, 3-0, at home on September 7 and won their season opener, 3-0, at Smithtown West on September 5.

Gambino Uses Arm, Legs

In Latest Victory

The Westhampton Beach football team scored 21 points each in the second and third quarters to defeat host Comsewogue, 42-17, on Friday night. Will Gambino rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another 150 yards and two touchdowns. Gianni Amodemo made 11 tackles and Riley Miller made six tackles on defense for the ’Canes, who are 2-0 to start the season.
