The Westhampton Beach girls tennis team had its way with fellow League VII opponents this season, going undefeated in 10 of its league matches as well as going 13-0 overall. The Lady Hurricanes won their second consecutive county title.
Brooke Pottish and Lindsay Kantor were Division IV champions as a doubles team and took second at the county tournament and sixth at the state tournament on their way to being named All-State players. Sarah Haupt and Jaime Hann were also named All-State as they were able to finish third at the county tournament as a doubles team. The doubles team of Rhiannon Tufano and Rachel Paoletta were named All-Division, while the doubles team of Kellie Westfield and Allie Lehrer, were named All-League for their efforts during the season.
Ellie and Diana Vamvakitis were both named All-County singles players. Diana Vamvakitis was the runner up at the division tournament.
The Westhampton Beach boys soccer team did well throughout its league season, posting a 7-6-1 League VI record and a 9-6-2 overall record. The Hurricanes made it into the Class B playoffs as the seventh seed where they eventually lost 6-5 in a sudden death shoot-out to Mt. Sinai.
Connor Stockton was one of Suffolk County’s leading scorers and for that he was named All-County as well as All-Conference. Stockton, along with senior Brian Nugent, was part of the Exceptional Senior team where only a select few seniors are able to showcase their skills in a game in front of college scouts.
Other postseason honorees were Greg Kandell and Jason Iannone who were named All-League. Josh Ozpinar was named Academic All-County.
The Westhampton Beach girls volleyball team showed growth throughout the season as it finished with an 8-4 League VI record while going 9-8 overall. The Lady Hurricanes had to face a tough Harborfields squad in the first round of the Class A playoffs, losing 3-0. Harborfields made it to the state tournament by defeating Eastport South Manor for the Class A title.
Senior Alexa Lampasona took home All-Conference honors this postseason, while Kristen Polan was named League VI Rookie of the Year. Meagan Johnson, Savannah Tomlinson and Alexa Hernandez were named All-League.
The Westhampton Beach boys volleyball team just missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record this past season but was well represented in postseason honors. Both Christian LaDu and Ryan Duca were named All-County as well as Academic All-County. Alex Choi and Connor O’Rourke were both named All-Division.
Westhampton Beach girls cross country head coach John Broich brought the Lady Hurricanes up another level this season as they were co-League VI champions with Miller Place. Amber Selig was named All-County, as she was the lone Lady Hurricane at the county meet. Selig, Molly Bennett, Sarah Donohue and Carlyn Sabo were all named All-League.
While the Westhampton Beach girls soccer team had a tough season, finishing last in League VI tied with Amityville with a 1-11 record, the Lady Hurricanes did have a player take home a postseason honor. Five-year varsity player and senior goal keeper Emily Pepe was named All-League.

Both ESM volleyball teams did well this season, making the playoffs. The Lady Sharks were impressive in their run to the Class A finals. The Lady Sharks were undefeated in League V play, fending off Islip (10-2 League V) twice and then again in the playoffs. ESM eventually lost to a tough Harborfields team 3-1 in the Class A finals.
Kelley Kostuk, Kelly O’Brien, Toni Marie Illuzzi, Amanda Smith, Sara Hanna and Colleen Bechhoff all received All-League honors, while Kostuk was named the League V Player of the Year, and O’Brien was named Defensive Player of the Year for League V.
The boys volleyball squad did well this season, posting a 9-7 record while getting into the Suffolk County playoffs as the 10th seed. The Sharks lost in the first round to Sachem North, the seventh seed.
Captain Josh Tuttle was the leading postseason honoree for ESM garnering All-Division, All-County and All-Academic honors. Dan Elitharp and Matt Johann were also named All-Division, while Ryan Balsam and Drew Sinensky were All-Division honorable mention selections. Ryan Brandow was also named All-Division honorable mention and was named to the All-Tournament team. Sinensky and Rob Canobbio were named All-Academic.
First-year head coach Russell Lewis brought the ESM boys soccer team back to the playoffs with a 6-5-1 League IV record. The Sharks lost to second-seeded East Islip in the first round of the Class AA playoffs.
Midfielder Daniel Josepher and defenseman Chris Anderson were named All-Conference. Defender John Kennedy and midfielders Julian Figueroa and Brett Cardaro were named All-League. Kennedy is also an AP Scholar Athlete.
The ESM girls soccer team played a tough schedule this season, finishing up with a 2-8-2 League V record. Cindy Laliberty was named All-Conference while Emily Boge and Stephanie Gratto were named All-League.
The ESM boys cross country team had one of its best seasons to date with a 4-2 League V record. Zach Thorne was named All-Division and set numerous track records for ESM. Thorne, along with fellow runner Andrew Boullianne, were named All-League. The Sharks were named a Scholar-Athlete team.
The ESM girls cross country team had two runners, Briana Siele and Emily Tooker, named All-League. Adrianna Amendola and Jessica D’Amico were named AP Scholar Athletes.
The ESM girls tennis postseason honors were not reported in time for this issue.
Hampton Bays had only one team make the postseason this fall and that was the boys soccer team. Head coach John Paga brought the Baymen to the Class B playoffs after a 5-5 League VII season. Hampton Bays lost to Mattituck in the opening round of the Class B playoffs.
Andre Fialho and Chris Meraz were named All-Conference, while Fredy Castro and Juan Delgado were named All-League. Castro and Delgado were also named to the Exceptional Senior team. Jose Pablo Ortega was named Academic All-County.
Anjelica Barberine was the lone player from the Hampton Bays girls soccer team to take home a postseason honor as she was named All-League.
The Hampton Bays girls cross country team did very well this season, capturing the Suffolk County title for the second season in a row. The Lady Baymen finished the League VIII season 5-1.
Sarah Reed, the Suffolk County Class C champion, was named All-League along with teammates Samantha Makis and August Thilberg.
For the Baymen cross country team, Pawel Golyski was named All-League.
The Hampton Bays girls volleyball team finished League VII play with a 4-10 season. Rachel Tufano and April Bennett both took home All-League honors.
The Hampton Bays field hockey team finished 2-12 in Division III this season. Seniors Kait Cooper, Marissa Raimo and Ali Hultberg were named All-Division for their efforts during the season.
The Hampton Bays football team finished last in Division IV going 1-7. However, the Baymen did have some standout players during the season, and that showed in the postseason awards. John Havens was named All-County, All-Division and Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year. Oskar Ramirez, Robbie King and Igor Leite were all named second-team All-Division, while Ramirez was also named Academic All-Division and a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete. Stuart Barrantes was the recipient of the Wings Memorial Scholarship.
