Members of the Westhampton Beach Fire Department participated in the Stephen Siller Foundation’s annual Tunnel To Towers 5K Walk/Run on Sunday. The event celebrates the heroism of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who died in the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The race follows the route that he ran from his firehouse in Brooklyn through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel on his way to the burning towers. The Westhampton Beach volunteers joined thousands of other first responders from the United States and Europe in supporting the foundation which builds homes for severely disabled servicemen and servicewomen. Many of the participants ran the race in their bunker gear as a tribute to the sacrifices made by police and firefighters 14 years ago. COURTESY WESTHAMPTON BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT
