The eventual Suffolk County Class B boys and girls cross country championships resided in Westhampton Beach this past fall. Gavin Ehlers won the boys title, while Jackie Amato won the girls title.

Ehlers was joined by teammate Max Haynia in being named First Team All-Long Island by the Long Island Coaches Association/USATF-Long Island, while Trevor Hayes was Second Team All-Long Island. Ehlers was also named Co-Runner of the Year along with East Meadow’s Zack Van Houtan. Ehlers and Haynia were also named to Newsday’s All-Long Island team and head coach Jack Ryan was named Newsday’s Coach of the Year

Ehlers, Haynia and Hayes all earned All-County honors. The entire boys squad — which included Ehlers, Haynia, Hayes David Alvarado and Rudy Scala — was All-League. Amato was named First Team All-Long Island, and she and Keira Falvey earned First Team All-League honors, while Oona Murphy and Story Stossen were Second Team All-League.

Rose Hayes won their third straight Suffolk County singles tennis title, and along with Julia and Katelyn Stabile, who reached the finals of the doubles draw, earned All-State honors. Matilda Buchen, Madison Lewis, Mia Seitles, Emma Way and Natalie Vega each earned All-County honors, while Lexi Sielaw and Emily D’Allessandro were All-League.

The Westhampton Beach football team reached the Suffolk County Division III Championships, where it lost to Sayville. Aidan Cassara was named Second Team All-Long Island, All-County and was also given the Thomas Cutinella Memorial Leadership Award. Jackson Hulse and Dom Sarno were each named All-County, while Christian Capuano, Gavin McIntyre, Jake Mecca and Shaun Williams were First Team All-Division. James Foster, Deegan Laube and Nick Waszkelewicz were Second Team All-Division.

The Westhampton Beach boys volleyball team reached the Suffolk County Division II Championships for the second year in a row, but fell to Eastport-South Manor. Conor Farnan, Daniel Haber and Hank Sherer were each named All-County and All-Division with Carter Papagni also earning All-Division honors. Papagni and Daniel Cooper were each All-Academic.

Emma Citarelli, Ella Donneson and Lauren Goss were each named All-League during the girls volleyball season. Donneson, Olivia Jayne and Jackie Glaser were Academic All-County student-athletes.

Zach Berger was both All-County and All-League as a seventh-grader in his first season on the Westhampton Beach varsity boys golf team. Owen Jessup and Bennett Parli were both All-League.

The Westhampton Beach boys soccer team reached the Suffolk County Class A postseason, but were hit with an untimely COVID-19 quarantine just before the start of the playoffs that left the team with barely any varsity players for its first first-round game at Elwood-John Glenn, which ultimately led to a loss. Andre Insalaco was named All-County and All-Conference for his performance throughout the season. Danny Slover and Loris Van Vlodrop were named All-Conference players and Matt Daleo was All-League. Santo Benenati was All-Academic.

Caroline Henke, Trinity Valenzuela and Kade Murphree were each named All-League during the girls soccer season. Ellen Floegal as Academic All-County.

Girls tennis, both boys and girls soccer, boys and girls volleyball, cheerleading and boys golf were named Scholar-Athlete teams.

Hampton Bays

River Orlando earned All-County honors while playing for the Hampton Bays football team this past fall. Ethan Culhane and Cooper Shay were First Team All-Division players, while Mickey Bracken, William Krivickas and Jacob Tuttle were Second Team All-Division.

Justin Jimenez was named All-Conference for his efforts during the boys soccer season. Juan Alape and Alex Posada were All-League and Juan Cardona was Academic All-County.

Saorla Scully and Cassidy Moore helped lead the Hampton Bays girls soccer team to one of its best seasons in recent memory with four victories. Both were named All-League.

David Catena and Erik Sandstrom were All-League golfers, Aliyah Cukaj and Brianna Quiros earned All-League honors while playing girls volleyball and Luca Villano was a Second Team All-League runner during the boys cross country season.

Tara Brochu was All-Class B while playing for the field hockey team. Bryona Hayes and Dulce Pina were All-Division selections and Abril Vasquez was selected for the team’s the Unsung Hero Award.
