What’s The RushEast Quogue, what’s the rush?
Vote “no” to incorporation until we know: Who will run the village until the village government is established? Who will run for election to be the volunteer mayor and trustees? We need to know who they are, their qualifications, their prior public service and business experience, their visions for East Quogue, their agenda, how long they have lived in East Quogue.
Because these elected officials will appoint village committee chairs. Because these elected officials will hire a village tax collector and building department staff. Because these elected officials will take the next two years to decide the future of East Quogue — how and at what cost (our taxes) they will provide police protection, road maintenance, and access to beaches, the bay and parks, and other services and amenities currently provided by the Town of Southampton.
We also should know how long each member of the East Quogue Village Exploratory Committee has lived in East Quogue. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and our neighbors to know before we incorporate. Vote “no” to uncertainty. Let’s wait until we know.

Kudos to Craig Catalanotto [“What Are We Doing?” Letters, April 18] and Barbara Ring [“Tangled Web” Letters, April 18] for their letters to the editor shining a light on the web of special interests, conflicts of interest and misinformation that...
September 11 and October 7, similar dates of infamy for strong allies with similarly divergent reactions. Now gathered mobs of protesters are cheering on those who cry “Death to America” and call for the complete annihilation and genocide of the...
On June 25, registered Democrats will go to the ballot box to determine who will represent their ticket for New York’s 1st Congressional District. Although CD1 has recently been held by Republicans, both parties have assumed leadership over the years....
I thank Barbara Ring for aptly proving my point. In response to my letter [“An Alliance,” Letters, April 11], which decried the state of civic public discourse in Hampton Bays as being overtaken by misinformation, fear-mongering and conspiracy peddling, Ring...
