If I’m remembering correctly, in the early stages of the planning for the refurbishing of what is now known as the Southampton Playhouse, there was going to be an area on the roof (or, at least, top floor) for food, drinks, etc., along the lines of the Green Room in the Sag Harbor Cinema.
It never happened, and I’m assuming the idea died under a barrage of obstacles related to the Planning Board, the Village Board of Architectural Review and Historic Preservation, the Village Zoning Board of Appeals … did I leave anyone out?
Meanwhile, literally right around the corner, Shippy’s is undergoing — or perhaps already completed? — the major “Shippy’s 2.0” upgrade. Huh?
Pray, do tell. Anyone?
