William J. O’Connell of Sag Harbor died at home on July 3. He was 86.
Born in Southampton on January 16, 1927, he graduated from Pierson High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired plumber and member of the Plumbers Local 775. He was also a member of the American Legion in Sag Harbor.
Predeceased by his first wife, Isabelle Kelly O’Connell, he is survived by his second wife, Karen O’Connell. He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon O’Connell Babula of Florida; a stepson, Robert C. Hallock III of Sag Harbor; a stepdaughter, Mollie A. van Rünbach of The Netherlands; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard O’Connell.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery in Sag Harbor. Memorial donations may be made to the Chelberg Battle Post of the American Legion in Sag Harbor, East End Hospice, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or the National Parkinson Foundation.
