William T. Kennedy of Flanders died on May 6 at Southampton Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Kennedy worked for Howard Hughes, flying supply delivery planes to North Africa during World War II.
In addition, he worked as the treasurer of Chase Bank in New York City for 34 years.
Family and friends remember him as the unofficial “mayor of Bay View Pines” in Flanders, because, as a friend recalled, he “kept a good watch over the community.”
He also cared for several stray and abandoned cats in the community and spent much of his leisure time boating and fishing with friends.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Southampton Hospital, 330 Meeting House Lane, Annex, Southampton, NY 11968 would be appreciated by friends and family.
