The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for parts of eastern Suffolk County, including the East End, for Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Snow accumulations could total between 5 and 9 inches, according to the warning. Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour during the late morning and early afternoon.
The weather service advised against travel during the heaviest parts of the storm. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency, the statement warns.
Temperatures are expected to remain steady in the mid 30s, with winds of 10 to 20 mph, according to the weather service.
