On behalf of Fighting Chance, I am writing to let your many readers know about an act of generosity on the part of the Teachers’ Association of Sag Harbor.
Last week, our charity — which has provided free counseling for 18 years to cancer patients on the East End — received a sizable donation from the association. We did not know it was coming, but it could not have arrived at a better time. Like many East End nonprofits, our main summer fundraising event has been postponed until the fall, so every dollar of donations — and I mean every single dollar — sure helps.
It also makes our staff feel appreciated at a time when they are seeing a surge of inquiries and counseling requests from cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and understandably wonder if that makes them more susceptible to contracting COVID-19.
Again, much thanks to the wonderful teachers in this village of angels.

I thank Barbara Ring for aptly proving my point. In response to my letter [“An Alliance,” Letters, April 11], which decried the state of civic public discourse in Hampton Bays as being overtaken by misinformation, fear-mongering and conspiracy peddling, Ring...
