Driver Killled In Crash Friday Night In Riverside

Southampton Town Police responded Friday night to a fatal crash near the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside.

At about 7 p.m. dispatchers received an emergency call reporting a one-car accident on County Road 94, about a half-mile west of the jail.

Responders found an overturned 2006 Acura sedan that had left the road, flipped, and came to rest in a wooded area on the side of the road. The single occupant, Nicholas Rutigliano, 30, of Manorville, was trapped inside, and heavy rescue equipment was needed to remove him from the car.

He was unresponsive at the scene.

The road was closed for approximately four hours while detectives conducted an investigation and crews worked to remove the vehicle.
