A fire that caused extensive damage to a house on the Shinnecock territory last week is believed to have been the work of an arsonist, the tribe announced in its Nation’s Voice newsletter. “In the early hours of Wednesday, October 20, 2021, tribal member Peggy Crump’s house was intentionally set on fire by an unknown [person] or assailants,” the newsletter stated. “Significant damage was done to the home.
