Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has ordered all schools in the county to close for two weeks, beginning Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27.
School closures and cancellations in our area due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 include the following. The list will be updated regularly. Announcements of closings or cancellation may be sent to The Express News Group at kim@expressnewsgroup.com.
Southampton School District is closed until March 27.
Bridgehampton School is closed until March 27.
Montauk School is closed through March 27 .
East Hampton School is closed through March 27.
Springs School is closed through March 27.
Riverhead School District is closed through March 27.
Ross School will close campus for students through Friday, April 17.
Amagansett School is closed through March 27.
The Bridgehampton School is closed through March 27.
The Hayground School is closed through March 27.
Springs School is closed through March 27.
Stony Brook University students, beginning March 23, will move to remote instruction. Classes will be held through the end of the semester and all classes and finals will meet remotely at their regularly scheduled times. Most non-classroom events and large gatherings will be cancelled or postponed as of this week through at least March 31. Throughout the remainder of the semester, however, the campus will remain open, operational and will continue to provide services.
Southampton School District has cancelled or postponed any school events that have the potential for large group gatherings in its buildings through April 3. Additional precautions have been taken and may be accessed at the school district website, southamptonschools.org.
The Suffolk County Music Educators Association festival set for this weekend is cancelled.
Sag Harbor School District is closed through March 27.
Springs School has postponed the March 12 STEAM night, the March 27 and 28 Festival of the Arts, and all March field trips. The Monday and Friday Spirit Meets have been cancelled, as have pep rallies.
