Arthur Octavious Seymore Sr. died on July 1, 2019, at his residence in Water Mill. He was 91.
He was born on October 11, 1927, to Roosevelt and Mary (Trotman) Seymore in Currituck County, North Carolina. It was there that he met and married Daisy Lindsey on June 2, 1951. A decade later they relocated to Southampton, where he became a member of the First Baptist Church in Southampton. Eventually, he and his family moved to Water Mill.
Arthur took pride in his work at the Lloyd H. Smith Estate as a caretaker. Landscaping, growing plants and flowers enabled him, along with his wife, to enjoy being avid gardeners and florists, growing beautiful flowers and plants on their property in Water Mill. Their flower stand was visited by many people. They even did various bouquets for weddings, parties, and events like the Hampton Classic Horse Show. Mr. Seymore was often complimented and praised for his beautiful flowers and rubber jade plants.
He was predeceased by his wife, Daisy; and two sons, Aaron Wade and Leo Antonio.
He is survived by his children, Paulette (Harvey) Pendleton of Southampton, Dawn (Rick) Seymore of Water Mill, Arthur Jr. (Simone) of Brentwood; a daughter-in-law, Pat Sweeney-Seymore (Irving); and a brother, Phillip Seymore of Virginia. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Lara Cole (Rossa) of Sag Harbor, Amber (Martin) Seymore of New York City and Ashley Pendleton of Southampton; four grandsons, Aaron (Wanda) Seymore of Sag Harbor, Trumaine (Sheree) Pendleton of Maryland, Harvey (Katie) Pendleton Jr. of Rocky Point and Darios Pendleton of Southampton; four great-granddaughters, Lady Quinn Cole, Kylie and Kennedy Pendleton and Hannah Bell Queen Pendleton; and a great-grandson, Ulysses Cole. He is also survived by three special friends, Marion Darden of Water Mill, Richard Coffin of Calverton, and Theo Gamble of Huntington Station, and an extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
