Edward W. Jacobsen, formerly of Hampton Bays, died at home in Wilmington, North Carolina, on November 5, surrounded by his family. He was 80.
Mr. Jacobsen was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Signe (Herrmans) Jacobsen, and lived in Hampton Bays, where he and Carole (Lach) married in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a program manager for Grumman Aerospace. Mr. Jacobsen and his wife retired to Wilmington, where he continued his passions for woodturning, boating, and hosting friends and family in their home. Survivors said “Eddie Jake,” as he was often called, is remembered as a generous man, always willing to share his love, time and ability to fix anything mechanical.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; children, Donna and Rob Jacobsen; and grandchildren, Olivia and Miranda Jacobsen. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond.
A memorial service will be held in Wilmington at 4 p.m. on November 27 at the Oleander Methodist Church. An interment ceremony will be held at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays in the early summer.
