Carl G. Zeh Jr. of Water Mill died at his home on Friday, March 7. He was 77.
Born in Southampton, on July 9, 1936, to Carl G. and Rose Lester Zeh, he attended Southampton schools. He married the former Mabel “Tess” Hugel 57 years ago and together they made their home in Water Mill, where he operated Carl Zeh Auto Repair.
In his free time, Mr. Zeh’s hobby and passion was racing; he had owned the #34 car that raced at tracks in Riverhead, Islip and Freeport. He was also a fan of NASCAR and drivers Dale Jarrett and Carl Edwards.
Mr. Zeh is survived by his wife, “Tess” Zeh; a son, Edward Zeh and wife Michel; two grandchildren, Eric Zeh and Emily Zeh; and five siblings, Connie Malone, Kenneth Zeh, Sally Duryea, Charlotte White, Skip Zeh and Carol Dimon.
The family received friends on March 9 and 10 at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where religious services were conducted by Reverend Peter M. Larsen. Interment was at the Zeh family plot in Southampton Cemetery.
