When it comes to the matter of public health, communication is key. That said, my main focus is to make sure all Southampton Village residents have the most informed and detailed information accessible.
SEA-TV, which can be tuned into on local channel 22, is a great source that keeps everyone current with developments during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Many of you may have noticed from my social media that I am exploring creative ways to support our local businesses. I directly challenged all residents and visitors to support local restaurants and order takeout where possible. Please remember that public safety and health come first, so do not participate if you are uncomfortable or have an underlying health condition.
Over the next few weeks and months, we must come together and lend a helping hand to our neighbors. Many are concerned about hard times ahead, but Southampton is a village that will heal and come back stronger than before.
I look forward to leading the charge on moving businesses forward during the recovery phase and wish continued good health and safety to all our residents and visitors.

We are witnessing a rising tide of antisemitism in our country. However, its origins are not from the usual suspects. This current surge of bigotry did not originate with white supremacists, neo-Nazis or the KKK. No, it’s coming from the...
We are squandering resources at an alarming rate. We are without the will to stop it. Just stop. Can’t stop using too much water … so sewer. Watch the vernal ponds dry up and disappear and then wonder why. We’re...

Ed Surgan stated that our universities are sick and that their student demonstrators only want death to America after it pays off their student loans [“Make-Believe Radicals,” Letters, May 2]. Mr. Surgan was spewing all sorts of bile, but much...
