I wanted to thank the Southampton Village Board and mayor for their swift action in creating a Phase One plan for beach stickers and to provide clarity to those asking. I also wanted to thank the staff at Village Hall for their hard work in processing all of our beach passes for us during these unusual times. Many are delighted that you are keeping out beautiful beaches open!
I also wanted to thank the mayor for working together with the board to get this done. After coming off a tough meeting where the mayor and deputy mayor voted no to the budget, which increased the tax levy by 4.7 percent and spending by $1.1 million, he responded by putting politics aside, worked with everyone and got the job done to implement a beach policy.
It was great to see our mayor be selected by County Executive Steve Bellone to be one of the mayors on the Suffolk County beach task force. And it was even better to see him immediately include other board members in those discussions.
So thank you to the board and to the mayor for your teamwork.
And, in addition, thank you to the mayor, to Simone Levinson and the Southampton Arts Center for organizing the first drive-in movie this Memorial Day weekend! Great job.
