Beginning June 9, Bay Street Theater will offer “Monologue!” an online acting workshop for adults and teens ages 13 and up, as part of its new online programming platform Bay Street To-Go.

“Monologue!” provides an intensive one-on-one setting for individuals with any level of acting experience to hone their script-reading and speaking abilities. Participants are free to choose monologues from all works and genres, from classic to contemporary theatre. Instructor Allen O’Reilly will work closely with each student in hour-and-a-half sessions to ensure their full breadth of charisma and confidence is conveyed through monologue delivery, helping to build toward the next phase of their acting career.

The workshop will be available Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals may meet for one-and-a-half hour segments for a fee of $75 per session, online via Zoom.

Beginning June 9, Bay Street To-Go will also offer a virtual tap dancing program for teens ages 13 and up. ”Tap Camp Online” will meet Tuesdays under the guidance of dancer, producer, and choreographer Anita Boyer, who will introduce participants to the musicality and technique of tap dancing, starting with upbeat warm-ups, exercises, and introductory routines. Individuals of all experience levels will have the opportunity to hone their tap dancing skills, while learning famous choreography from iconic Broadway shows. Boyer will bring original choreography to the class, set to popular music, while covering more difficult material such as jazz combos and improvisational tap.

Boyer is co-founder of the East Hampton-based production company Our Fabulous Variety Show.. For the past 10 years, she has been dance teacher and leader of the Tap Army competition team at dancehampton in East Hampton, and has been the choreographer for high school musical productions at Southold, Southampton, and Shoreham-Wading River high schools.

Camp will be held via Zoom on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. The fee is $100 for eight sessions.

For information on either course, visit baystreet.org/education or contact Allen O’Reilly, director of education, at allen@baystreet.org.
