Give Him A Call

I am a nurse practitioner. Recently, our family doctors prescribed a few generic medications, nothing fancy. An astounding, jaw-dropping price difference was found in the costs for the very same medications, depending on where they were obtained, or whether they were purchased through insurance, or not paid for with insurance because the cost for the drug was too high.

Those medications cost anywhere from $7 to $200 — for the very same stuff. A generic drug that’s been around for decades exceeded $400. A third generic (not brand name) was denied by our insurance.

This is madness.

It’s a good time to express to 1st District U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin that he sponsor and add support to HR 1384, and get started on a Medicare for All initiative to develop a universal, portable health care system for every American. He has not yet done so. His office phone number is 202-225-3826.

At a time when there are legislative rumblings regarding eliminating Social Security and Medicare, we need a representative who protects his constituents from price gouging and disappearing safety nets. Let’s give Washington, D.C., a call.

If he cannot or will not, I am confident candidate Nancy Goroff will do a better job.
