As we all know from both sides of politics, this is passionate like we have not seen in our lifetime. In New York’s 1st District, we happen to have one of the most contentious and watched races in the country: Nancy Goroff vs. Lee Zeldin.
Lee Zeldin, the incumbent, is a Trump supporter. Yes, Lee Zeldin does not believe in science; yes, Lee Zeldin remains silent as Trump spits on the graves of our military; yes, he thrives on negative, devisive and fake news to confuse our community, while doing absolutely nothing for us.
But the most difficult for me in the face of 2020 elections is being taken for a fool. He promises environmental checks, and there are none — and we are feeling the consequences (no scallops).
Nancy Goroff is a scientist; she is a newcomer to politics. She is yet another person called to dedicate her time and energy and money because she cannot handle the pillage of our beautiful Long Island any longer.
Please go to her website, look at her views and vote for a woman who has come to the ugly battlegrounds of this political arena because she cares about our community. We need change. We need action. We need Goroff.

We are witnessing a rising tide of antisemitism in our country. However, its origins are not from the usual suspects. This current surge of bigotry did not originate with white supremacists, neo-Nazis or the KKK. No, it’s coming from the...
We are squandering resources at an alarming rate. We are without the will to stop it. Just stop. Can’t stop using too much water … so sewer. Watch the vernal ponds dry up and disappear and then wonder why. We’re...
Who benefits from Fred Thiele’s windmill [“State Budget Authorizes Southampton Town To Partner With Stony Brook University for Windmill Repairs, Using CPF Revenue,” 27east.com, April 23]? Certainly not the general public. The trouble is, you cannot see it. Because of...
Ed Surgan stated that our universities are sick and that their student demonstrators only want death to America after it pays off their student loans [“Make-Believe Radicals,” Letters, May 2]. Mr. Surgan was spewing all sorts of bile, but much...
