In having some St. Patrick’s Day fun, Mary O’Hanlon’s third graders at Hampton Bays Elementary School participated in a pot o’ gold math review project. The students decorated their own pots of gold with gold coins that had multiplication and division questions they had answered. Leprechauns were added, of course, for some good luck.

Third graders at Westhampton Beach Elementary School researched a variety of endangered species as part of a recent science lesson. Each student chose an animal on the endangered species list — ranging from sea turtles and bald eagles to whooping cranes — and created a report that they presented to their peers. They were encouraged to compliment each other by writing accolades on sticky notes that they affixed to each presenter’s report. Courtesy of the Westhampton Beach Union Free School District
