Chief Alfred Callahan, thank you for your information regarding transparency in the Southampton Fire Department [“Selfless Devotion,” Letters, March 25]. This seems to be an issue with all agencies, especially as of late.
I am glad that you are now exploring better ways to handle the vaccination issues, but after several months, it is after the fact. This situation will undoubtedly occur again.
I am sure that you are proud of your members, and we are all certainly proud of them, but they should all be able to be proud of the officers also. Perhaps what I aired in my letter of March 18, “Dropped the Ball,” in which I expressed my concern for the members of the fire department should be addressed at the next department meeting and not swept under the rug.
Communication is a key factor in any organization, and it does not seem to be working effectively in the Southampton Fire Department.
