Spring came alive for the first graders in Lauren Mikelinich’s class at Hampton Bays Elementary School as they studied garden helpers and garden pests. After reading a book on the subject, the students ventured to their school’s reading garden for a scavenger hunt, searching for caterpillars, beetles, birds and more.

Students at Hampton Bays Elementary School received special lessons on boat and water safety through the Dominic Trionfo Memorial Fund. The nonprofit provided a variety of learning materials, including activity books and classroom kits, and engaged students in discussions about bike safety, tick safety, the importance of sunscreen and staying hydrated. Members of the Southampton High School Interact Club and Southampton Intermediate School Early Act Rotary Club joined forces to bake loaves of bread for the South Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and local families in need. Supplies for the project were donated through the King Arthur Baking Company’s Bake for Good program, which was applied for by Sarah Fitzsimons, the high school’s family and consumer science teacher.
