South Street Elementary School students recently visited the building's new science, technology, engineering, art and math room.
Members of the Hampton Bays Elementary School service organization, K-Kids, recently donated more than $500 to the American Cancer Society as part of their annual Denim Day fundraiser. They raised the funds by selling breast cancer awareness bracelets and pins to fellow students, teachers and administrators. Students and staff also wore jeans and the color pink on October 22 in honor of the cause.

Officer Eugene LaFurno of the Southampton Town Police Department, and father of student Enzo LaFurno, visited with the students of Raynor Country Day School last week. During his visit, Officer LaFurno reinforced the concept of "stranger awareness" through a series of digital slides to help the children best understand what to do in the event of an emergency and who to turn to for help. In addition, Officer LaFurno created a series of interactive and digital games for the students to play cooperatively as a review of his lecture. The children enjoyed prizes such as police badges, lanyards and water bottles.

Students at Remsenburg Speonk Elementary School participated in Red Ribbon Week activities, in which the committed to a drug-free lifestyle. During the day's events, Southampton Town Councilman Rick Martel presented a proclamation honoring Red Ribbon Week.

The Southampton Elementary School Student Council has donated $600 to the Coalition for Women’s Cancers of Southampton Stony Brook to raise awareness and support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Council members garnered the funds through a successful raffle in which fellow students, families and staff purchased raffle tickets for the chance to win a giant pink teddy bear.
Southampton High School senior Gabrielle Avallone earned the title of Employee of the Month through her law enforcement studies at Eastern Suffolk BOCES.
Despite a driving rain, 17 students from Southampton High School volunteered to participate in their school’s annual Day of Service on October 26. As part of the effort, the students packed 200 bags of food supplies and 150 personal care kits for underserved families within the Southampton community.
