It is unfortunate if, in a public forum, a palpably false statement is made impugning the honesty and integrity of any of the town’s appointed boards. However, The East Hampton Press exercised poor judgment publishing such a statement in an unattributed quotation, as appeared in “Rally Calls for Service” [September 8].
The words quoted in the article are not worthy of a response. However, it bears mention — as the article indicates — that no submission has been made to the Town Planning Board in support of the Emergency Service Communications Facility at Springs Fire Department since the final scope of the project was adopted on September 1, 2021, over one year ago.
If and when the applicant submits a draft environmental impact statement, then, in accordance with the requirements of Section 617.9(a)(2) of the State Environmental Quality Review Act, the Planning Board will “determine whether to accept the draft EIS as adequate” — and neither “money” nor “politicos” will influence the Planning Board.
