Forever View

All of us who travel the East End know the “visual surprise” of Reeve’s Bay near the Big Duck in Flanders. The long bend on Flanders Road, along with the steady bend of our necks, lifts us to a joy that is the nonspoken: pride of place.

And, amazingly, this vista uniquely links the North and South forks in one simple glance.

The Community Preservation Fund will be purchasing it to protect and open up this vista. The Town of Southampton must work hand in hand with the CPF to guarantee, in writing, that this treasure is not lost to neglect via nature’s way of filling in that water view.

Simply put, this parkland is aimed at all who drive by, all who will not stop, all who need this uplifting tranquil display in our daily lives.

How nice for each of us to someday look back and know we embraced our enchanted East End by naming this gift to future generations. Name this pastoral joy what it is, and must remain: Forever View.
