The Rising Stars Piano Series at Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts, presents Bryan Wallick performing on Saturday, April 13, at 6 p.m. Wallick will perform Bach’s “Toccata,” Mendelsohn’s “E minor Prelude & Fugue,” Liszt/Schubert’s “Gretchen am Spinnrade,” Liszt’s “Funerailles,” Hamelin’s “Prelude & Fugue” and Shostakovich’s “Prelude & Fugue.”

Wallick is gaining recognition as one of the great American virtuoso pianists of his generation. Gold medalist of the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kiev, he has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa. He made his New York recital debut in 1998 at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and made his Wigmore Hall recital debut in London in 2003. He has also performed at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall with the London Sinfonietta and at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church.

Wallick is an avid chamber musician and recently joined the Mendelssohn Trio, which is in residence at Colorado State University. He performed with them on a European tour in September 2022 visiting Switzerland, Austria and Germany. His most recent engagements include appearances with the Brevard Symphony, Boulder Symphony, Cape Town Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and Western Piedmont Symphony.

He was given a grant in 2006 by the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts to explore his synesthetic realities in a multimedia project that allows the audience to see the colors he experiences while performing. Synesthesia is the ability to experience two or more sensory experiences with one stimulus. Bryan Wallick sees colors with each musical pitch and has created a computer program that projects images of his colored visions to the audience.

Tickets for Rising Stars Piano Series concerts are $20 in advance at scc-arts.org or $25 at the door. Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts is at 25 Pond Lane in Southampton. Call 631-287-4377 for details.
