It has become a tradition for authors to gather on the East End to honor and celebrate their shared passion.

Bringing in more than 100 authors and more than 2,500 guests, the annual Authors Night benefiting the East Hampton Library has made its mark as one of the most successful and largest literary events in the country. Since it began in 2005, the event has attracted notable guests such as Senator Charles Schumer, Barbara Walters, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Giada De Laurentiis and Alec Baldwin, who serves as the founding honorary chair.

Local authors participating this year include Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas, David S. Reynolds, Helen Harrison, Phil Keith, David Scott Kastan, David Kozatch, David Margolick, Michael Paraskevas, Jeffrey Sussman, Mym Tuma, Susan Verde, Tom Clavin, Jake Rose, John Alridge and Anthony Sosinski.

Other featured authors are Hilaria Baldwin, Robert A. Caro, Blanche Wiesen Cook, Elliot Erwitt, Florence Fabricant, Jules Feiffer, Alice Harris and Rick Smolan.

The 14th annual Authors Night will take place Saturday, August 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., at its new location at the “555” Field on Montauk Highway in Amagansett, and will feature a book sale and signing cocktail party with the authors, followed by dinner parties in private homes honoring one or more of the guest authors.

All proceeds made from the book sale as well as the dinner party tickets will be donated to the East Hampton Library. The funds are used to support the free programs and services that are provided by the library year-round.

Tickets for the reception only are $100, and tickets for the reception and authors dinner start at $300. For more information, call 631-324-0222 or visit authorsnight.org.
