The Wood Brothers, Chris and Oliver, will play the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 20, at 8 p.m.
The musical siblings from Boulder, Colorado, might have different styles but the duo comes together to create and collaborate on songs that adapt the folk, bluegrass and roots-rock music they loved as kids into their own countrified blues sound. Chris is a founding member of the Manhattan-based jazz trio, Medeski Martin & Wood, and Oliver is a southern soul singer and guitarist.
After working on separate projects for 15 years, the duo blended their styles, impressing decision makers at Blue Note Records. No sooner had the brothers begun to think of themselves as a band than the Wood Brothers, which also includes drummer Tyler Greenwell, had a record deal.
Tickets to the Wood Brothers, playing at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts center on Sunday, May 20, at 8 p.m., range from $15 to $35. Make reservations online at whbpac.org or by calling 288-1500 or purchase tickets in person at the box office.
